Applications are invited under the Institute Post Doctoral Fellowship Scheme, from Indian Nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and foreign nationals who have completed their Ph.D within last three years. The positions are purely temporary. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, and extendable subject to satisfactory performance.
Openings are available in all areas of Mechanical Engineering. Details of research interests of faculty members of our department are available in the departmental website. The applications received will be processed throughout the year, and the selection will be made through an institute approved committee. Annual reviews will be conducted for the continuation of the fellowship and the maximum duration of the fellowship will be three years.
Fellowships amount will be Rs. 50,000/- per month for the first year and Rs. 55,000/- per month for the second year, and Rs 60,000/ per month for the third year.
The candidate will also get a travel and contingency amount of Rs. 1,00,000/- per year.
A post-doctoral fellow would also be eligible to apply for the INSPIRE Faculty scheme of the Department of Science and Technology through the Institutional Mode. In addition to the research work, the duties of the post-doctoral fellows will involve teaching laboratory and/or tutorial classes up to 8 hours per week.
Medical benefits and other campus facilities will be the same as those of the registered students of IIT Kanpur.
Post doctoral fellows will be provided suitable accommodation in the campus as per availability. They will also be eligible for accommodation in the students’ hostels. In case accommodations cannot be provided, HRA will be given as per rules.
Leave rules for post doctoral fellows will be same as the leave rules of PG students.
