The department of Mechanical Engineering seek applications from foreign nationals for multiple positions at the level of Assistant Professor (AP), Associate Professor (AsP) and Professor (P).

The successful candidates are expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Mechanical Engineering, acquire research funding and conduct research, involve in department and institute activities, and provide service to the University.
Qualifications: Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines, and have demonstrated potential for excellence in research. For Assistant Professorship, relevant postdoctoral experience would be advantageous, but is not mandatory. For Associate or Full Professorship, a strong research publication record with demonstrated leadership in conducting inter-disciplinary research and collaboration with industry is essential. The minimum qualifications needed at different levels are given in the table.
Professor
10 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor or equivalent.
Associate Professor
6 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
Assistant Professor
3 years teaching/research/industrial experience post-PhD.
Assistant Professor (on Contract)
For a fresh Ph.D. the position will be on contract basis for first three years, after the completion of which it can be regularized.
Tenure: 5 Years contract which is renewable in nature. The contract may be terminated by either by giving 3 month notice or salary in lieu thereof. In case if a contract is terminated by the faculty than he will be required to refund the contingency grant to institute.
Age Limit: Maximum 60 Years.
Salary: Salary will be at par with Indian nationals, corresponding to Professor, Associate and Assistant Professor pay scales. Additional salary as personal pay up to 100% based on the recommendation of selection/standing committee recommendations will be offered. Yearly increment will be similar to that of Indian national and additional increment can be given based on the periodic evaluation.
The Institute also provides an additional top-up salary of Rs 25,000/- per month for the first three years of service to the newly joined faculty members. After three years of service, the faculty member(s) are eligible for Young Faculty Fellowship (open for faculty of age upto 40 years) providing a top-up salary of Rs.10,000/- per month for three years, and/or Faculty Chair positions providing a top-up salary of Rs 25,000/- per month for three years. Both the positions are based on performance.
Endowed Chair : foreign faculty may be offered Endowed Chair Positions based on the recommendations of the selection committee.
Initiation Grant: maximum upto Rs. 80.0 lacs. Other rules similar to the institute norms.
Contingency Grants: Rs. 6.0 lacs for 5 years. This grant can be used for purchase of books, stationery and travel support for attending, the international conferences.
Accommodation : Fully furnished accommodation for first year. Faculty staying for more than a year will be required to move to regular accommodation.
Leave: as applicable to Indian nationals.
Consultancy : supplementing the income through consultancy will allowed as per institutes norms. Professional Development Account (PDA) and Cumulative Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) as applicable to Indian nationals. Office Space 150 sq. ft. and lab Space 800-1200 sq. ft. depending on availability/requirement the space may be shared with other faculties.
