• PhD: 04 - 05 May, 2023 (8AM of 04 May, 2023)
• MSR: 06 May, 2023 (8AM of 06 May, 2023)
• MTech (part time/ sponsored/ external): 08 May, 2023 (8AM of 08 May, 2023)
• The interviews will be held in the offline mode, i.e., the applicants have to appear for interview in person.
• Certain specializations may also conduct a written test before the interview.
• For candidates to be interviewed in the SPCOM specialization, some interview tips are available here
• It is advised that the applicants, who very well fulfil the eligibility criteria and expect to be shortlisted for the interview, should accordingly make their travel plan to avoid last minute rush.
• More details regarding the interview, shortlisting criteria and shortlisted applicants for interview will be informed in due course of time.

23 March 2023:

• Selection criteria for the MTech program during 2023-2024 Semester I:
  All candidates will be selected on the basis of marks/CPI (wherever applicable as per the eligibility criteria) and GATE Score, via the COAP portal. Candidates applying for part-time, sponsored, or external registration will be selected based on interview instead of GATE score.
• Selection criteria for the MS(R) program during 2023-2024 Semester I:
  All candidates will be selected on the basis of marks/CPI (wherever applicable as per the eligibility criteria), GATE Score, and interview. For the purpose of shortlisting, only the first preference will be considered.
• Selection criteria for the PhD program during 2023-2024 Semester I
  Candidates with Master's degree in engineering will be selected on the basis of marks/CPI and interview. Candidates with a bachelor's degree in engineering or science (4 year program) will be selected on the basis of marks/CPI, GATE score (wherever applicable as per the eligibility criteria), and an interview. For the purpose of shortlisting, only the first preference will be considered. However, candidates who have their second preference as ‘Photonics’ may also be called for interview in Photonics stream, in addition to their first preference.
• The dates for interviews along with other relevant details will be announced in due course of time. Please keep checking this page continuously.
• All candidates should remember to (a) upload marksheets for their qualifying degree (b) upload their GATE score card (c) apply only to streams they are eligible for (see eligibility criteria).
• Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST/DAP should supply appropriate category certificate issued by central government only, or else they will be admitted as general students. There is no reservation for candidates belonging to OBC category.
