M.S (by research) Programme in Chemical Engineering

The department of Chemical Engineering offers its two year MS(R) Program specifically designed to provide specialized knowledge with the help of coursework and research to meet the ever-changing demands of both academia and R&D sector. The student has to take a minimum of four courses, and complete the remaining credit requirements in the form of both research and coursework credits.

Admissions:

Admissions to the MS by research program happens every summer, usually in the month of April-May, simultaneously to the M.Tech admissions. The notification for the same, for all departments, is posted on the institute webpage. The basis varies from one year to another, based on the recommendations of a selection committee, which changes every year. Currently the admissions are done solely on the basis of GATE scores, similar to the M.Tech program. The eligibility for the MS by research program is given in details in the PG manual of IITK.

Template for Post Graduate Courses

Department of chemical engineering offers several core and elective courses for the students enrolled in Ph.D., M.Tech. and M.S.(Research) programmes, below given minimum course requirements for M.S (by research) Programme in Chemical Engineering.
Programme Minimum course requirement
M.S. Minimum course requirement is four.
Two must be taken from the compulsory courses (ChE611, ChE621, ChE631, ChE641 (or) ChE642),
and two more from the list of electives. Student may take another course from the compulsory basket as an elective.
• All PG students should register for a zero-credit PG Seminar Course: ChE802 (at least for one semester for M.Tech./M.S.R and two semesters for Ph.D. students) in which they attend seminars given by students by turn under the mentorship of a faculty.
