Welcome to the Department of Chemical Engineering (ChE) at IIT Kanpur. We at ChE@IIT Kanpur continue to thrive to provide one of the highest quality educational experiences. We, over several years, through the remarkable efforts of our outstanding faculty and students, are on the trajectory of excellence and are at the forefront of chemical engineering education, research, and socioeconomic impact in the region and the world. We take great pride in providing an intellectually stimulating environment; as a result, our Alumni continue to excel after graduation and distinguish themselves in both academia and industry, both within the country and abroad.

The department has a world-class facility for experimental research. In addition, the institute has built a supercomputing facility over the years, which ranks top in the country. This augmented facility and support have fueled the growth of research activities among our students and faculty, attracting a large number of extramural funding and collaboration with industry and high-impact publications and patents.

Over the last few years, the department has added new faculty to strengthen the newly emerging areas of chemical engineering while building on our core strengths in fluid mechanics, reaction engineering, process design and intensification, thermodynamics & molecular simulations. In the last five years, we have been promoting significant entrepreneurial activity. I am happy to share that many of our undergraduate students and post-graduate students have started their successful entrepreneurial journey with the active support of the department.
