Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) at IIT Kanpur,
established in 1946, is the most eminent professional body in India representing all segments of metallurgical and materials engineering sector. IIM has 57 chapters across India
and IIM Kanpur chapter is one of them. IIM Kanpur Chapter actively organizes events, such as Dr. N. K. Batra Metals and Materials Quiz, IIM Foundation day, IIM Lectures etc.

Material Advantage (MA) at IIT Kanpur (IITK) was founded in Dec. 2008. MA@IITK Chapter is affiliated with The American Ceramic Society (ACerS), Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), ASM International - The Materials Information Society, and The Minerals, Metals
and Materials Society (TMS). The MA@IITK chapter is managed by Mr. Shiven Ponnupureddy (chair), Ms. Pooja Rani (vice-chair), Ms. Swati Mahato (secretary), Mr. Pranjal Chauhan (treasurer), Mr. Dwij Raj Hari (publicity coordinator), Ms. Pareena Wagle (web coordinator), Mr. Anandhakrishnan S (spokesperson & student advisor), Ms. Sruthi S (event coordinator), Ms. Nandni Sinha (UG coordinator), Mr. Arpit Kushwaha (Outreach UG Coordinator) and Dr. Kantesh Balani (faculty advisor).
All students in MSE Department are encouraged to become members and take advantage of receiving scholarships/travel funding/access to journals/and networking.
