Minor in Linguistic Theory

One course out of:

  • ENG122 (Introduction to Linguistics)
  • ENG124 (Language and Society)

Two courses out of:

  • ENG423 (Current Issues in Linguistics Theory)
  • ENG443 (Natural Language Semantics)
  • ENG447 (Cognitive Linguistics)
  • ENG448 (Languages of South Asia)
Minor in English Literature
  • One course out of: ENG431, ENG433, ENG434, ENG437, ENG438
  • One course out of: ENG432, ENG439, ENG445, ENG446
  • One course out of: ENG435, ENG436, ENG440

Students can obtain a minor in Literature by clearly opting for one of the three combinations suggested.

  1. A total of 8 students can be chosen in both the minors combined. If the number of requests for minors exceeds eight, selection will be based on a personal interview.

Minor in Philosophy

The Minor would require a minimum of 27 credits to be accumulated from the courses due mentioned below.

  • PHI443M: Living Philosophy
  • PHI757: Moral Judgement
  • PHI 774: Social and Political Philosophy
  • PHI140: Topics in Indian Philosophy
  • PHI161: Philosophy of Beauty
  • PHI450: Philosophical Aesthetics 
  • PHI481: Existentialism

Interested students are expected to apply for a minor in response to the call from the DoAA and in the prescribed format. A total of 10 students can be chosen for a Philosophy minor every academic year. The number of seats may be altered by the discipline.

The selection will depend on the performance of their first course in Philosophy, an invited essay or meeting may also be added to the selection process.
