The Department Research Facility of HSS is envisaged as a ground to nurture discussions as well as application of social models into innovative products and services.
Developed on approximately 1400 sq feet, this facility falls under the direct administrative charge of the Convenor, Seminar and Research Committee. The flexible modular nature of the space facilitates administration and execution of research projects from varied disciplines undertaken by the Faculty from time to time. Currently, the Lab hosts the MHRD sponsored Project on Frugal Innovation in Design and Technology for Grassroots Designers. The project has built up a workshop for developing wooden products as well as small scale technologies for cottage industries. Besides the regular cutting and grinding tools, the lab currently has a Lathe, Milling and Band-saw for prototyping, as well as two Mak-it sets. The space also facilitates participation of community members in collaborative workshops with the project team. All faculty members of the HSS department can apply for space in this facility for research purposes. Space is allotted in a time bound manner for the project duration alone.
