Career Opportunities at Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur

Applications are invited from Indian and foreign nationals with excellent academic and research records for full-time positions of Associate Professor and Assistant Professor to carry out teaching and research in alternative, clean, and futuristic energy technologies and climate studies with expertise in either of materials, devices, systems, processes, modeling, integration, economics and policy.

Department's priority areas

• Energy generation: Fuel cells, Wind energy, Hydro energy, Tidal energy, Nuclear energy, and Hydrogen energy.
• Energy storage: Batteries and supercapacitors, Hydrogen storage for next-gen mobility.
• Waste and CCUS: CO₂ capture, utilization, sequestration and storage, waste to energy, and recycling.
• Energy systems' integration: Energy transmission and efficiency: Smart grid and Microgrid, Electric vehicles, power distribution and transmission, power system protection, control systems, energy efficiency of appliances and systems
• Energy modeling and policy: Energy/climate economics, modelling, and transition; circular economy; and decarbonization.
• Energy and the built-environment: Energy efficiency, sustainability, resilience, and climate adaptability; net-zero and smart buildings.

Academic Programmes:

We currently offering Master's and Doctoral programs as well as minor options to undergraduates and master's options to dual degree students, in sustainable energy engineering.

• Generous start-up package for initiating research, a relocation allowance, and a top-up salary of 25,000 per month (for the first three years) to all new faculty members.

Eligibility Criteria:

• PhD from a reputed institute with an undergraduate degree in an appropriate area of engineering or science.
• First class (or equivalent) in all degrees.
• Proven research record with high-quality researchoutput.

In addition, for:
Associate Professor : 6 years of teaching/research/industrial experience, of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
Assistant Professor : Ph.D. with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record in all preceding degrees. For a fresh Ph.D, the position will be on contract basis for the first three years, and can be regularized afterwards. For those with three or more years of post PhD teaching/research/industrial experience, regular appointment can be made.
