ICCR’s objectives are to actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and programs pertaining to India’s external cultural relations; to foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries; to promote cultural exchanges with other countries and people; and to develop relations with nations.
Every year, ICCR offers scholarships to students from across the world to study in Indian universities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Applications to ICCR Scholarship Schemes is usually in April-June
AARDO is an inter-governmental organization comprising member countries from Asia and Africa, with India being one of the founding members.
AARDO and IIT Kanpur have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in capacity building, knowledge and dissemination and transfer of appropriate and affordable innovative solutions for agricultural and rural development in Member Countries.
The scholarships under this agreement are offered for the M.Tech. program and applicants are selected as per the rules instituted by IITK.
This scholarship offers:
- Tuition fee waiver
- Free accommodation
- Monthly stipend equivalent to Indian students
- Airfare for travel to and from the AARDO Member Country to New Delhi

The Study In India (SII) programme is a project introduced by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. The programme facilitates and encourages international students to study in premier institutes in India.
Students who apply through Study in India will be eligible to sit for the PRAGATII Exam. Based on the results of the exam, meritorious students are then selected for a scholarship of up to USD 3200 to cover tuition fees, accommodation and mess charges.

In 2018, on the 25th anniversary of the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit in New Delhi, the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, in the presence of the leaders of all 10 ASEAN countries, announced the Doctoral fellowship in India for ASEAN. Under this program, 1000 fellowships will be provided to applicants from ASEAN countries to pursue a Ph.D. at one of the Indian Institutes of Technology.
This fellowship provides:
- Monthly stipend equivalent to Indian doctoral students
- Research grant of up to INR 1,70,000
IIT Kanpur offers all foreign degree students a monthly fellowship at par with Indian students. Only those students who do not receive any other funding will be eligible for the Institute Fellowship.
