Kanpur, 07 December, 2024: The Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) concluded day one of a three-day Pan-IIT Meeting and Conference on Engineering in Medicine, a key event aimed at fostering collaborations in the healthcare sector. Organized by Prof. Ashok Kumar and Dr. Rakesh Kumar Majhi, with the generous support of The Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation and other Indian funding agencies, this year’s conference focuses on the Healthcare Sector: Regenerative Medicine, Molecular Medicine, and Digital Medicine. The primary objective of the event is to strengthen collaborations among IITs, IISERs, and IISc, all under the Ministry of Education, by addressing grand challenges at the intersection of engineering and medicine through interdisciplinary team science projects. The event was inaugurated by Shri Ranjan Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, along with distinguished guests Shri Rahul Mehta, Founder of The Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation; Prof. LS Shashidhara, Director of the National Center for Biological Sciences; and Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur. The conference brought together over 300 participants, including 35 Heads of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering departments across India, nearly 60 faculty members from various institutions, 14 eminent international researchers, and over 100 students and postdoctoral fellows.
