Devapratim Misra, a student of Class IV at the Campus School, IIT Kanpur was awarded National Level Second Prize in the Science Olympiad organized by ‘Sarva Seva Kendra’ of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India on February 11, 2021. The Award consists of a tablet (worth Rs. 30,000) and a National Level Merit Certificate. The award ceremony was held in the Campus School, IIT Kanpur. Several senior officials of the MeitY, namely, Mr. Atulet Rai, Mr. Shashi Shukla and Mr. Rabin Singh were present during the award ceremony in the School and handed over the prize to Devapratim. Mrs. Achla Josan, Principal, Campus School, IIT Kanpur warmly welcomed all the officials from the ministry. Several teachers and staff members attended the ceremony at the Campus School. Campus School, IIT Kanpur, is a very reputed school in Kanpur zone. The Director and other authorities of IIT Kanpur take every possible care for the all-round upliftment of the School. The Principal and teachers in this school are very well qualified and support the students very much. The Principal Madam is highly qualified and very efficient. She takes care of the students individually to the maximum possible extent. The reputation has been rising continuously since when she took over as the Principal of this School. The teachers are of encouraging nature and pay much attention to every child individually just like parents. The school is around 50 years old. It was set up inside the IIT Kanpur Campus since the very inception of IIT Kanpur. IIT Kanpur takes pride of this School. The School is very good in Extra-curricular activities. The children from this school win a lot of awards at the national level both in academics and extra-curricular activities. Parents feel very secure by sending their kids to this School. Devapratim received over 15 gold medals so far. He is a sincere and gentle boy. He is very inquisitive by nature and has a lot of interest in reading different books related to Science and Current Affairs as well as story books. He has extensively read several books related to Indian epics and spiritual books viz. the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Bhagavat Gita. He enjoys watching cartoons in the TV. He is quite disciplined and spiritual in nature. After bath he goes to temple for puja everyday. He takes part in Karate and Taekwondo. Devapratim is also fond of drawing and painting. He enjoys playing football, cricket and basketball. He also enjoys playing different indoor games with his sister, Devarati, who is a student of Class VIII of KendriyaVidyalaya, IIT Kanpur. She was the winner of Manak Inspire Award – 2021, awarded by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Devapratim is interested in violin. He enjoys eating fish and sweets. He is fluent in Bengali, Hindi and English. He is very fond of travelling. He travels to different tourist places once almost every year. He likes both seas and hills. He has an attitude to explore historical facts and enjoysHe watching Discovery Channels in the TV. Devapratim’s father, Dr. Subhas Chandra Misra, is a Professor of Industrial and Management Engineering Department at IIT Kanpur. His mother, Sulagna Misra, is an MA in Literature and takes care of the children’s education efficiently. |
