MFCEM Inauguration and Research Symposium

6th & 7th November

With an aim to facilitate breakthroughs in biomedical engineering innovations, IIT Kanpur has set up the Mehta Family Center for Engineering in Medicine with the generous support of Mr. Rahul Mehta of the Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta Family foundation (MFF). The center was inaugurated on 6th November 2023 with a two-day inaugural research symposium. The research symposium had exhilarating talks by global stalwarts in the three focus areas of research at MFCEM, namely, Molecular Medicine, Regenerative Medicine and Digital Medicine. Day 1 of symposium commenced with a keynote address by Dr. Gang Bao, the Chair of Bioengineering at Rice University, on nanomedicine and genome editing based approaches for disease therapies, followed by Aurobindo Nath Bose Entrepreneurship Lecture on Molecular Medicine in Oncology practice by talk by R. Venkat of Karkinos Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., a technology-led oncology platform.

MFCEM Workshop: Introduction to Imaging

The MFCEM workshop on “Introduction to imaging” was conducted by Mr. Rishi Kant, Application Specialist, Zeiss India, on November 5th 2022.

Imaging is an essential tool in the research arsenal, and therefore to keep abreast with the fast developing technologies in microscopy, one of the leaders in microscopy technologies, Zeiss (India), were invited to conduct a workshop. In the workshop a wide range of topics were discussed: from basic of microscopy, image acquisitions and quantitation, lifetime imaging (FRAP), to more advanced topics such as Laser Scanning Microscopy (LSM), LSM-based SR Imaging Techniques, Lattice SIM-based SR Techniques, Single Molecule Localization Microscopy and Correlative Workflow (LM to EM Correlative Microscopy).
