Nestled on the banks of the eternal Ganga, Kanpur stands as one of North India's major industrial centers with its own historical, religious and commercial importance. Some of it was formerly known as the "Manchester of the East", and the economic capital of Uttar Pradesh. Kanpur is home to many residential and migratory birds. Most of them can be spotted at Bithoor, IIT Kanpur campus and areas alongside the Ganga Canal. The city has Asia's biggest (area wise) zoological garden. The other places of interest in Kanpur city are Shri Radhakrishna Temple (J.K. Temple), Jain Glass Temple, The Kanpur Memorial Church.
