Prastuti - Your Case, Your Solution!
Greetings all!
Got an idea that you would like to share?
Want to inspire other people in the country? If you are the kind of person that enjoys taking up challenges, likes to play with data, innovate and seek out solutions for various analytical problems, then this competition is for you! Take part in PRASTUTI, organized by the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering, M.Tech Program of IIT Kanpur, under the banner of PRABANDHAN’15. Take up the challenge and show us how good you are at solving analytical problems with a new approach.
How can I take part?
We are interested in your original approach and solution to the various problems that you have faced in the field of analytics. It can be the ones you encountered on your internships, or during your work experience, or even at your institution. It may be something completely novel, truly unique – something completely different and something nobody ever thought about!
Tell us:
How you put your ideas into action and arrived at an optimum solution?
Were you involved with a team or worked on it on your own?
What potential obstacles you have had to overcome?
Creativity counts!
PRASTUTI is organized in two wings.
a. ENIGMA – Beat the challenges!
Present your problem solving skills via a power point presentation and enthrall the audience. The spotlight will be on you, and we will be there to listen.
b. TABLEAUX – The Skill Canvas!
Present your problem solving skills in a poster presentation. Just as important as describing to us your goals, is the creative visual implementation of your idea. We want to be able to see what effect your approach to the problem has had on the outcome. As the saying goes, a picture says more than a thousand words... You can present the problem, the approach, the obstacles encountered and the solution on a poster. It may contain graphics of what you want to achieve, photos of how you put your ideas into action or drawings of how effective you imagine your solution to be, once you have reached your goal.
The duration of the presentations will be 15 – 20 mins each. Be funny, be serious, be wild and whacky or just original – we look forward to seeing your work! You can check the website, in this section, for rules and regulations, to be uploaded later.
What can you expect?
The competition entries will be judged by our esteemed faculty members. The 5 best participants will have their presentations / posters uploaded on our website.
Guidelines:
Your presentation will be judged on the following criteria:
Enigma- Beat The Challenges!
1. Problem definition
2. Solution Approach
3. Originality of idea
4. Impact factor – Effectiveness of result
5. No plagiarism, the idea should be your own.
Tableaux – The Skill Canvas!
1. A2/A3 size paper should be used.
2. The whole solution should be presented on a single sheet of paper.
3. The presentation should focus on the problem definition, solution approach, originality of idea and the effectiveness of the results.

The presentations (powerpoint presentation) for Enigma, and scanned copy of the poster (size A3/A2) for Tableaux, are to be mailed to prateek@iitk.ac.in with cc to purbac@iitk.ac.in and divay@iitk.ac.in, on or before 20/09/2015. 23:59 Hrs.
The hard copies of the posters are to be brought with the candidates.
