Visiting Faculty/Visiting Scientist

Positions to faculty members Scientists and Engineers in other Academic Institutions (other than IITs) for short durations like one or two months to a maximum of 2 years.

1-2 years

As per the norms of the Institute for Faculty position (AP/ASP/P) Consolidated Salary max Rs. 50,000/-

Although consolidated salary is given, corresponding basic salary is worked out for house allotment eligibility purposes

Adjunct Faculty

Positions to Scientists/Engineers/Professionals employed in other organizations, who are willing to spend a few days to a few weeks at a time at IIT Kanpur

1-3 years

Paid travel plus honorarium plus local hospitality

Rs. 2,000/- per day

Distinguished/Honorary Faculty

Positions to outstanding Scientists/Engineers in other organizations, who are willing to spend a few days in a year at IIT Kanpur

1-3 years

Paid travel plus honorarium plus local hospitality

Faculty Exchange Programmes between IITs

Faculty members for taking up short term assignments under the programme

1-2 years

Same salary of the faculty member plus an expense allowance equivalent to 20% of the basic pay

Pensionary benefits and leave salary contributions to be met by parent IIT

PDF Positions

Departments/programmes can seek from the Director PDF positions to pursue specific research plans

1-3 years

Fellowship amount will be in the range of Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000

Accommodation in students hostel or SBRA hostel and other facilities same as PG students. Accommodation is subject to availability.

Appointment to the above mentioned positions is through the Institute Standing Committee
(Director, Dy Director, DORD, DOFA and Head of the Department plus one DFAC member)
